At Baobab Black Seniors Health and Social Care Services Society, we honor the full journey of aging, including the powerful transition that menopause represents for many women and gender-diverse people in our communities.
Menopause is often spoken about quietly, yet it’s a natural stage of life that can bring physical, emotional, and social changes. For Black women and elders, this transition can also be shaped by cultural silence, lack of access to tailored health information, and systemic gaps in care.
Baobab stands for visibility, dignity, and culturally grounded support. This month, we encourage our community to speak openly, share experiences, and care for their bodies and minds. Self-care during this time can look like:
- Listening to your body and resting without guilt
- Nourishing yourself with healthy meals and hydration
- Staying active and moving in ways that feel good
- Seeking support, whether through trusted elders, friends, or health professionals
Let’s create space where menopause is not a taboo but a part of our shared story. At
Baobab, we honor this transition as a moment of strength, wisdom, and connection.
