As we come to the close of another year, I find myself reflecting on how far Baobab Black Seniors Health and Social Care Services Society has come since its inception. What started as a vision rooted in care, dignity, and community has grown because of you.
To our Black Seniors, thank you for trusting us, sharing your wisdom, your stories, and your laughter. You are the heart of this organization. Every program, event, and conversation is inspired by your strength and resilience. You remind us daily why this work matters.
To our Funders and Partners, thank you for believing in our mission and walking alongside us. Your support allows us to turn ideas into action and compassion into real services that improve lives.
To our volunteers young and old, you are nothing short of amazing. You show up with open hearts, willing hands, and often snacks, which never go unnoticed. Your generosity of time and spirit keeps our programs vibrant and our community connected.
To our guiding light Elders Council and invaluable working Board of Directors you truly are the backbone of our Society. We cannot thank you enough for the countless hours, thoughtful decisions and steady guidance you provide that make this important work possible. To those behind the scenes whose work happens quietly, but it’s impact is felt every single day.
As we look ahead to the new year 2026, we are excited to continue our campaign #NoBlackSeniorLeftBehind, which will remain a strong focus of our work. This effort is deeply connected to our ongoing research titled What are the health disparities and challenges experienced by Black Seniors within BC’s health and social systems. This research is helping us listen more closely to understand, advocate more effectively, and push for systems that truly serve our community.
We are also looking forward to gathering together during Black History Month. Please mark your calendars for February 14, 2026, when we will host our Intergenerational Event: Bridging Wisdom. This event will celebrate connection across generations, shared learning, and the powerful role our Elders play in shaping the future.
As we look ahead to a new year, I am filled with gratitude for every partner, volunteer, and donor who makes this work possible. Thank you for standing with us, believing in the potential of every person in our region, and helping build stronger, more equitable communities. Together, we will continue to create meaningful change for our seniors in BC.
Wishing you a peaceful, healthy, and hopeful holiday season, and perhaps a little time to rest, reflect, and enjoy the company of those you love.
With sincere thanks and warm regards,
Executive Director
